The Central New Jersey Ballet Theatre is happy to announce auditions for our fall production of Dracula, sponsored by Bordentown Home for Funerals. Casting auditions will be held Saturday, June 2, at 10 a.m. for ages 8 to 10 and 10:30 a.m. for ages 10 and up. “This ballet has a part for everyone from the tiniest bat to the exciting lead roles and we encourage all to attend,” says CNJBT Director Alisha Cardenas.
Dracula brings Bram Stoker’s familiar story of the vampire count to life with classic ballet. The CNJBT production will be family friendly and there are roles for both beginner and more experienced dancers.
Dancers will learn the ballet at our summer workshops and rehearsals will be held Fridays and Saturdays in September and October. The Intermediate Advanced Workshop will be held August 13 to 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. Beginners Workshop August 20 to 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The performances are being held to benefit the Bordentown Elks 2085 Special Children’s Committee sponsoring special needs children and their families at Camp Moore. Camp Moore provides the children with a traditional summer camp experience while giving caregivers respite.
“Halloween in Bordentown is huge, and we are happy to be able to kick off the festivities with a family-friendly production of this classic spooky tale,” says sponsor Robert Pecht of the Bordentown Home for Funerals. “Bringing the family to a performance will be a spectacular start the Halloween season and is an excellent opportunity to help members of our community.”
Just in time for Halloween, two shows will be performed on Saturday, October 20. The performances will be held at the Carslake Community Center, located in Bordentown City. “We are grateful for the support of the Bordentown Home for Funerals in sponsoring our production,” states Cardenas. “For the past two years, Bordentown Home for Funerals has sponsored community productions of the winter classic, ‘The Nutcracker.’ We are thrilled to be able to expand our community repertoire and help members of our community.”
CNJBT is also offering several camps and intensives this summer. From preschool to advanced, the CNJBT has something for everyone. “Summer is a good time to brush up on skills or try something new,” says Cardenas.
The Beginners Summer Intensive for ages 6 to 12 will be held July 9 to 20, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dancers will study Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. Full week and half days available. Before and after care is also available. This program is perfect for beginners or those dancers who want to keep their skills up over the summer months.
Intermediate/Advanced Summer Intensive for ages 10 and up will be held August 6 to 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. Guest artists from various companies will instruct the dancers in Master Ballet, Contemporary, Partnering, and Variations. This program is geared to the serious dancer and offers the chance to study with guest artists and learn different styles and methods. Partnering is an offering unique to the CNJBT Summer Intensive, offering students the rare opportunity to learn this skill.
Princess Camp for children ages 3 to 5 will be held July 23 to 27. Families may chose a daytime option from 9 to 10:45 a.m. or evenings 5 to 6:45 p.m. Children will learn ballet and tap and will create arts and crafts.
