Welcome the summer with flexible schedules and learning
Summer in New Jersey brings family vacations, trips to the Shore and happy campers off on new adventures. The season also brings day care challenges for working parents who must juggle complex summer schedules that may leave gaps in day care for kids.
The Windsor Happy School Preschool, Day Care & Learning Center in Princeton Junction, has the solution with a highly flexible, weekly program, designed to provide care and activities for children up to age 13. “Kids may be scheduled for a week to a month at summer camp, then a family vacation or visit to relatives, with a week or two in between,” explains Principal Sefali Shah.
Or, they may be free for most but not all of the summer while their parents are working and before school starts. “Children can enroll for as little as a week or two or for the entire summer,” Ms. Shah affirms. They can enroll and return for different weeks as well. “We are very flexible and understand the changing needs of working parents.”
Summer brings new learning opportunities, outdoor recreation and special events such as a Fourth of July celebration. Every Wednesday is Ice Cream Sundae Day and on Fridays, kids frolic through sprinklers on the playground. “Our summer programs are special,” Ms. Shah says. “However, we are not a summer camp. Our carefully curated learning programs are offered all year.”
The summer schedule starts on the last day of public school and runs through the end of August. The school is open from 7 am to 7 pm, so parents can effectively maintain their schedules.
Summer students enjoy the same personalized, quality care offered to preschoolers, adjusted to meet the needs of older kids up to age 13. Windsor Happy School is, first and foremost, a learning center and age- appropriate programs are designed to provide options that are educational and fun. Activities offered include Kids Zumba, Music, Tae Kwon Do, Robotics, Amazing Athletes and Kumon. A Kumon franchise in the same shopping center is available for special classes during school hours with discounted tuition for Windsor Happy School students.
Students three and older enjoy field trips to Camden’s Adventure Aquarium and the Crayola Experience in Easton, Pennsylvania. On these trips, the kids are carefully supervised by teachers and volunteers, with a ratio of one adult to every two children.
“We are very proud of our excellent student/teacher ratio and highly-trained, state-licensed staff,” says Ms. Shah. Ratios are: infants 1:2, toddlers 1:5, pre-school 1:10 and pre-K 1:12. Happy School is licensed for ages six weeks to 12 years and offers an excellent after-school program during the academic year.
The Windsor Happy School is celebrating 25 years of providing quality day care and dynamic learning programs. A new website, www.windsorhappyschool.com provides detailed information and testimonials from happy parents. “However, seeing is believing according to Sefali Shah. “We invite parents to book a tour of the school, and see for themselves that we are not just another day care center.”
